Hon. M. Connelly, M.L.C., returned this week by the Wahine after a visit to Australia. At the recent annual conference, of the New Zealand Carriers’ Federation at Wellington, Mr J. H. Moon (Auckland) was elected president.—Press Assn. The death occurred yesterday at the Waikato Hospital, Hamilton, after a brief illness of Mrs Ada Craiger, daughter of the late Mr and Mrs J. Thompson, of Blackball. The world chief guide, Lady Baden Powell. G.8.E., will visit the West Coast in a few days’ time. On April 19 there will be a civic reception in the Weslev. Hall to which the public will be invited. Other functions have ‘been arranged, including a trip to Hokitika. / Prior to the marriage of Mr J. McLennan and Miss Shirley Butterworth, the Greyroouth Co-operatwe Women’s Guild held a gift evening at the residence of Mr and Mrs Lane, Doyle Street. Blaketown. Mrs A. Schultze, president, of the Guild, extended the Guild’s best wishes to the bride, a former member, and presented her with a China tea set. The election of ollicers at the meeting of the Greymouth Table Tennis Union resulted as follows: - President, Mr W. Downes; vice-presi-dent, Mr A. Hutchison; secretary, Mr R. M. Harris; treasurer, M r A. W Kelly; management committee, executive ollicers, Mrs T. J. Bell, and Messrs E. Newton and J. Luey. There was a large attendance at the funeral of the late Mr Patrick Joseph Raleigh, of Cobden, which took place at Karoro Cemetery yesterday morning. Requiem Mass was celebrated at St Patrick’s Church by the Rt. Rev. Monsignor J. Long, P.P.. also present in the Sanctuary being the Rev. Fathers V. Flaherty and J. Leonard. During the Mass, the hymns were sung by S. Mary’s Convent choir. At the graveside, Monsignor Long officiated assisted by Fathers Flaherty and Leonard. The hearers were Messrs W. P. Moore, R. Kiely, T. Minehan and J. O’Neill. Many beautiful floral tributes were placed on the grave.
