Import Agents Want British Goods
P.A. WELLINGTON, April 9. At the annual conference of the New. Zealand Federated Society of Customs Agents, held in Wellington, the annual report stressed the fact that permits to purchase and import goods which could not be nrocured at the time stipulated bv New. Zealand were of little use. Alternatively, prohibition on other goods which British manufacturers produced and must sell was a serious disability to both British producers and New Zealand importers. Statesmanship In this vital problem seemed to lag sadly behind realities, if indeed it were not. entirely lacking. The report urged the Government to make satisfactory arrangements immediately, or to be prepared to restore the job ’to more experienced people m industries concerned. Mr C. V. Jones (Auckland) whs reelected president, unopposed.
