EXTRA PETROL FOR FARMERS AND TEAMS

LESS FOR BUSINESS EXECUTIVES P.A. WELLINGTON, April 9. Important alterations affecting business executives, farmers and owners of pleasure launches will be made in petrol rationing as from April 15, the Minister of Supply (Hon. A. H. Nordmeyer) announced to-day. The Minister said that during;;; March every gallon of petrol pro'-| vided in New Zealand was consumed.! The allocation of petrol to commercial travellers in Auckland would now be undertaken by the District Oil Fuel Controller, with the assistance of a special committee, said Mr. H. J. Aekins, at a meeting of the Council of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Aekins said an original suggestion that all applications for licences would be referred through the committee to Wellington had been declined by the Commercial Travellers’ Association, and it had now been decided to decentralise the authority’ for issuing licences and give the District Controller the necessary power.
