Aero Club Fined For Building Without Permit
TIMARU, April 9 The main purpose of bringing the charge was t) give publicity to the fact that pinus insignis timber was not permitted to be used in houses in the Timaru Borough, said Mr M. C. Gresson. representing the Timaru Borough Council in the Timaru Magistrate s court vesterday, when a charge against, the South Canterbury Aero Club (Incorporated-, of altering the construction of a house at Cambridge Street otherwise than in accordance with the Dermit. was heard. According to the plan all the timber to be used was macrocarpa, said Mr Gresson. When the building .had been subsequently inspected it was found that pinus insignis hi?.d been used. This timber was not permitted to be used in houses in Timaru, although it might be used for sheds which were up off the ground. The breach under the by-laws was one of deviating from the specified plan. The deviation from the plan was the only complaint, said Mr R.. Stout for the club. He said that the job had been done in a thoroughly workmanlike wav. , . , , In fining the club £5, the Magistrate (Mr G. H. Thompson) said the breach did not seem particularly serious.
