EXPORT MEAT KILLINGS
Export meat killings for the period October 1, 1947 to March 13, 1948, show an increase of 15,952 tons over the corresponding period for last season, states the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board. This position is extremely satisfactory, having regard to the dry season which has and is still being experienced in many parts of the Dominion. Lamb killings at 909,000 carcases in excess of last year reflect the record lambing percentages obtained this season. Beef killings are buoyant and give every indication of reaching the record figure achieved two seasons ago. Export killings to March 13, 1948, are set out below with the correspondng figures for the previous season in parenthses:—
