NEW YORK, April 7 The soft-coal miners’ strike for pensions is spreading. Approximately 25,000 men are idle. The United Mine Workers’ president. Mr John Lewis, to-day asked the Federal Court to dismiss as unconstitutional the temporary injunction calling on him to end the strike immediately. ~ , „ The case will be heard on April 12. Mr* Lewis contended that the injunction violated the miners’ right to stoo work and be free from involuntary servitude. In an affidavit accompanying the motion. Mr Lewis said: “The miners are free agents in this dispute and are under no compulsion or direction, expressed or implied.”
