The American gained the first fall, thirty seconds from the opening gong. Blomfield'evened with a series of heavy elbow jolts in the fourth round, but the Californian unleashed flying tackles early in the fifth round, which so dazed Blomfield that the American had no trouble in securing the second fall to give him the match.
