REEFTON NOTES
(Our Own Correspondent) The annual meeting of Reefton Drama Club held on Tuesday evening, when there was a fair attendance. Officers elected were: President, Mr G. Wilson: vice-president. Miss M Bell;,, secretary-treasurer, Mr R. Hope; producer. Miss M. Bell: assistant producers, Mrs J. Braidwood and Mr G. Wilson; vaudeville artist. Miss J. Archer; music, Mrs G. Ruthven. The balance sheet and report of last year’s work was satisfactory. H is hoped to produce two concerts this year. Mrs Wildermoth (junior) is a patient in the Grey River Hospital and her friends wish her a speedy recovery. Heavy rain began to fall in the early hours of Wednesday morning and continued throughout the day. Coal transported through the Reefto station yards in the’ month of March was a total of 44.824 tons. Coal from Buller which went through Reefton was 34,151 tons and the output from R.eefton was 10,673 tons. The Waitahu Golf Club opened its season last week-end with a record attendance of members and visitors. The links were in excellent condition, the greens being in first class order. The president, Mr J. Cunningham, in declaring the season open, welcomed the visitors and wished members a most successful and enjoyable season. Mrs Cunningham drove the first ball. A mixed Canadian foursome match was played over 12 holes and' resulted as follows: Miss L. Xing and C. D. Doyle 52/7/45; Miss Williams and Rev. Father Fletcher 61/14/47; Mr and Mrs August 59/11/ 4S. The following matches have been set down for this month—-Sunday 11: stroke match; Saturday 17: stroke match; Sunday 25: fourball best-ball bogey match.
