CATHOLIC CHAPLAIN MURDERED IN JAPAN

TOOKIO, April 6. A Roman Catholic chaplain, Captain John Ryan, of Albany, New York, was murdered outside Sugamo Prison to-night. He had been attached to Sugamo—where Tojo and all other . major war criminals are held—for the last two years. He had worked among Japanese war crimes prisoners and American delinquents. He was attacked with an icepick when taking a walk outside the prison.
