SCOTCH WHISKY FOR NEW ZEALAND FOOD

LONDON, April 6. Britain will cut her whisky exports to some soft, currency countries during the year beginning on May 1, but will maintain them to New Zealand to help to pay for food. The Minister of Food, Mr Strachey, announced this to-day. Overall exports will be increased to 8.500,000 proof gallons yearly, including 7,500,000 for the hard currency countries. The soft currency countries will get 1,000,000 gallons, compared with the present I,6OuaM)J gallons, and the home market 2,000,000 gallons.
