Mexican Idea For U.S.A. to Take European Colonies

BOGOTA, April 5. ,A spokesman for the Mexican delegation to the inter-American conference here, said to-day that the European colonial problem in the Western Hemisphere might be solved by handing the British, the French, the Dutch and the Portuguese territories over to the United States on i ninety-nine yeai’ lease basis. He insisted that this suggestion was “both logical and serious”. He pointed out that the United States, under lease arrangements, already has air bases in Guatemala, in the Guianas, in British Honduras, and in the Caribbean Islands.
