Mr and Mrs A. Aiderton, , 4 of Greymouth will leave by tomorrow’s express for Auckland, where Mrs Aiderton will sail by the Rangitata on an exetnded holiday visit to England and Scotland. A letter of sympathy is to be sent from the Westland District Progress League to the Vice-President of the League, Mr. J. M. Bunt, who has had to go to Dunedin for piedical treatment. This was decided at last evening’s meeting of the League. At last evening’s meeting of , the West Coast Rugby League a motion of condolence was passed in the death of the late James Conaghan, who had been a staunch supporter of many sporting bodies. As a mark of respect members stood in silence. At the meeting of the Westland District Progress League last evening, the secretary, Mr. J. S. Saunders and chairman, Mr. G. R. Harker, congratulated Mr. D. Friedlander on his appointment as president of the Hokitika branch. Appreciation was also expressed of the work of the immediate past-President, Mr. P. C. Blank. The following are guests at the Albion Hotel: Mr and Mrs R. J. Hull. Messrs T. King, G. Osborn, D. G. Wilson. S. C. Gibb. J. Blair, A. Hodgkinson. W. Campbell. T. Johnston (Christchurch); P. Ballantine. M. Stewart, Misses E. Richardson (Wellington), L. K. Richardson (Australia), M. and G. Everard, Mr and Mrs L. J. Everard (Lower Hutt), Mr and Mrs T. Crotty. Miss Crotty (Foxton), Mr and Mrs McGee (Wanganui). The Under-Secretary of Internal Affairs, Mr J. W. Heenan, is likely to visit England shortly to discuss, at Buckingham Palace, the arrangements for the Royal tour of New Zealand next year by the King, the Queen and Princess Margaret. Mr Heenan, who is due to retire from the Public Service very soon, has been asked by the Government to postpone his retirement sufficiently long to enable him to manage the Royal tour. —Press Assn.
