FIVE WEST COAST PRIESTS TO BE TRANSFERRED

Five West Coast priests are to be transferred to Canterbury, to take up new appointments at the end of next week.

The Rev. Fathers V. Flaherty and J. Leonard of Greymouth, have been appointed assistants at Papanui and New Brighton respectively. Father Flaherty, who belongs to the Dunedin diocese has served at Greymouth for five years and Father Leonard for the past two years. Their places at Greymouth will he taken by the Rev. Fathers T. Farrell (Beckenham) and T. Daly (New Brighton). The Rev. Father P. Foley of Runanga, is transferred to Christchurch. His place will be taken by the Rev Father T. McMonagle, of Sumner, and formerly of Greymouth. One of the best-known West Coast priests, the Rev Father D. Healy, of Ross, and formerly of Greymouth Kumara and Hokitika is to become parish priest at Sumner. The Rev Father F. E. Kelly, of Rangiora, also formerly of Greymouth, has been appointed parish nriest. of Ross. The Rev. Father Kevin O’Sullivan nf Hokitika, will leave for Addington being replaced by the Rev. Father J O’Sulfivan of the Cathedral parish’ Christchurch
