The curtain fell on Operation War Brides when the Aqui.tania docked in Halifax recently. Seven wives of Canadian servicemen and their five young children stepped down the gangplank, closing the final chapter in the Canadian Government scheme through which more than 64,000 Second World War brides and their children have come to Canada.
