Over £48 Millions In Rehabilitation Loans
By the end of February. 59,477 rehabilitation loans to ex-servicemen and women had been authorised to a total value of £48.331,400. For February itself 1080 loans authorised valued at £817,208. Loans have been for farms, houses, businesses, furniture. tools of trade and miscellaneous other purposes. Thirty-nine farm loans in February were valued at £182,596, and brought the total under that heading to’ 4630 loans worth £18,838,555. Housing loans for purchase and erection have totalled 381 in February, involving £467,261, and made the total to the end of that month 19,777 loans, worth £23,246,779. Of ■ these 11,640 loans (£11,648,409) have been for purchase, and 8137 (£11,598,370). for erection, while included were 11.317 free-of-interest supplementary loans, worth £1,696,597, intended to bridge the gap between pre-war prices and presentdciv costs. Including 8044 ex-servicemen allocated State rental houses, and those placed on farms of their own, the number of ex-servicemen given direct rehabilitaiton housing assistance by the end of February have totalled 32,451. Other loan assistance authorised has been as follows: Business loans for February 118 (£114,662), to date 5849 (£3,590,190); free of interest furniture loans, for February 514 (£46,456), to 1 date 27,773 (£2,550,006) free of interest loans to purchase tools of trade, for February, 21 (£62'B) to date 1177 (£38436); miscellaneous advances, for February 7 (£5605) to date 311 (£67,434).
