Chile's Demand For Czech Coup Investigation

The Chilean delegare, Senor Herman Santa Cruz, asked the Security Council to appoint a committee to sift the evidence on Chile’s charge that the Soviet manipulated a Communist coup in Czechoslovakia. He said this could be a preliminary step toward a full Council investigation. Senor Santa Cruz denied the Russian charge that his country had acted as an American lackey in bringing the case to the Council. Chile acted on her own responsibility. He already had the names of six Czechs willing to testify regarding the events leading to the Communist assumption or power. , ... The debate was adjourned until April 6.
