REEFTON NOTES
(Our Own Correspondent) REEFTON. April 1. Mr George Lockington had the misfortune to sustain a broken leg while at work at his timber mill at Maruia this morning. The injured man was brought part of the way by motor lorry, and was then taken by ambulance to the Reefton Hospital. Miss M. Absalom met with an accident through falling off her bicycle. S.he injured her knee, requiring ’ two stitches.
The weather has changed to hot sunny days, with light frost in the mornings. The Aid-for-Britain collection resulted: Broadway (Mrs Hardie) £5 4s 9d; Shiel Street (Mrs Palmer) £1 18s; Church Street (Miss Duff) £1 19s 6d; Bridge Street (Mrs Sharpe) £4 2s 6d; Walshe Street (Mrs Gough) £2 6s; Walshe Street-Buller Road ■ Mrs Hunt) £2 Ils; Walshe Street-Buller Road (Mrs Smith) £1 8s; Dawson Street (Mrs Eager) £5 14s 6d; Buller Road (Mrs Rosanowski) £2 9s 6d; Rosstown (Mrs Crossman) £1 17s; Upper Broadwav (Mrs Harvey) £1 14s; Trotting Club £5; Coal Owners’ Association £5 ss; total £4l 9s 9d. The next collection will be .a few days before April 19, when a full meeting of collectors and committee will be held in the Council Chambers at 2 p.m. Members of the Grevmouth campaign will meet the collectors, and ask questions about a very successful scheme that is already operating. They will be able to learn from Inangahua when their campaign is started.
