Pleading guilty yesterday to a charge of carrying on Ihe business of a bookmaker, Alfred Smith, aged 47, a Wellington taxi driver, ’was convicted and fined £l.OO.
The Post Ofnce has received advice to the effect that the registration service with Palestine has been suspended and is to take effect immediately. Articles already in the post will be allowed to go forward.

The West Coast Rugby Union has been requested by the New Zealand Union to supply details of teams which have no means of transport for matches without using petrol licences. The New Zealand Union has been allocated a definite ration and al' applications must be transmitted to Wellington through local unions. It has been decided to notify sub-unions of the request and forward the applications, together with the West Coast Union’s requirements to the New Zealand Union.
