Catholic Clubs’ Competitions At Dunedin

Although several competitors put up sterling performances, the st Columba Club team which competed in the Easter competitions of the Federated Catholic Clubs of the South Island, was unplaced. The Catholic Youth Movement, Dunedin, won the Hayward Shield with 191 points, Invercargill Marist being next with 8 points and Celtic Addmgivn, third with 41 points. Miss Maloney (Invercargill) won the Religious questions section, Riccarton being second and St Christopher’s Christchurch, third. The Impromptu Speech competition was won by Mr J. Ryan (Catholic Youth Movement, Dunedin), Marist, Invercargill, being second and Celtic, Addington third. , , , The competitions concluded with the annual banquet on Monday night, when the principal speaker was the Most Rev J. O’Neill, Coadjutor-Bishop of Dunedin. . . Next year’s competition will be held in Waimate or alternatively Timaru
