NEW YORK, March 29
Presidept Truman’s statements on temporary trusteeship instead of partition * for Palestine had “altered nothing,” said Azzam Pasha, secre-tary-general of the Arab League, to the Beirut correspondent of me Daily Telegraph. Azzam Pasha added that the Arabs considered the Jewish announcement of their intention to form a government in Tel Aviv on May 16, the nay after the British mandate ends, to oe a declaration of war. The Arabs would not abandon the military dispositions they had taken up. 'Die diplomatic correspondent of the Daily Telegraph says that British policy on Palestine has been made 'clear and , there are. lew grounds for thinking that Britain s determination to give up the mandate on May 15 will be changed The correspondent adds tnar there is little doubt, however, that if there is a genuine truce between Arabs and Jews Britain will be prepared to revise her policy.
