OBITUARY

MR JAMES CONAGHAN

The death occurred yesterday of Mr James Conaghan, a well-known resident of Greymouth, after an illness lasting for some time. Noted for his energetic disposition, he had a wide experience in the industries of building, coal mining, and public works, and he formerly was the Westland Branch Secretary of the New Zealand General Labourers’ Union. The late Mr Conaghan was one of the oldest members of the Greymouth Branch of the New Zealand Labour Party, and for many years was a member of the Executive. He was predeceased by his wife last vear. and leaves a family of five sons, Patrick, Raymond, Peter, Anthonv and James, and two daughters, Kathleen and Marie, all of Greymouth. He is survived by one brother, Mr F. Conaghan (Gisborne), and bv four sisters. Mrs J. Guerin and Miss K. Conaghan (Greymouth), and Mesdames B. O’Brien and V. Wimsett (Wellington). The. funeral takes place to-morrow morning, following Requiem Mass at St. Patrick’s Church. '
