CROWD HOOTS WINNER AT RICCARTON
Spare Part’s Form Questioned P.A. CHRISTCHURCH, March 30. One of the worst demonstrations ever heard on the Riccarton racecourse was that made to-dav when Snare Part, the champion hack of the November Cup meeting, and the winner of the Wellington Cun, won the Dominion Handicap, . after finishing weakly, when favourite, in the Croat Autumn Handicap on Monday. To-dav Spare Fart was fifth favourite on the win machine, and sixth on the place in a nine-horse field. The Judicial Stewards held an inquiry. but no action was taken. The hooting began, as soon as the horses crossed the line, and it. increased when the judge hoisted the numbers. The noise continued while Spare Part was returning to the birdcage. and he was given a stormy greeting by a crowd on the outside enclosure. ’ Applause for Spare Part’s win was drowned bv boos and hooting as the Clerk of the Course led him into the birdcage, round which the public pressed Io express disapproval. There were calls of ‘•Put him out”, and the demonstration was continued noisily as the winner was led away to his stable,
