Anniversary Of Mr. Savage’s Death Is Commemorated

P.A. AUCKLAND, March 28. More than 1,000 neonle gathered at the tomb of the Rt. Hon. Michael Joseph Savage, at Bastion . Point,, this afternoon, to pay a tribute to the work of the first Labour Prime Minister of New Zealand on the eighth anniversary’ of his death. There was an official ceremony, which consisted of the laying of wreaths in the mausoleum, on behalf of the Government. The Government was represented bv the Minister of Internal Affairs, Hon. W. E. Parry, and by representatives of the Labour Party’ and of other organisations. But crowds had gathered at Bastion Point long before 2.15 r,.m., when the ceremony 7 began, and many of the people remained long afterwards.
