JUDGE ANSWERS BARNES P.A. WELLINGTON, March 26. The Waterfront Industry Commission and the Government have done everything possible to' facilitate the hearing of proceedings which the Auckland branch, of the New Zealand Waterside Workers’ Union has expressed a desire to commence concerning the Hount Park dispute, said the chairman of the Commission, Judge Dalglish, this evening, when referring to a statement made by Mr Barnes (N..Z Watersiders’ president) who claimed that the union has been frustrated in attempts to bring the natter before the Court. At the request of the AttorneyGeneral, the Chief Justice has made arrangements for a Junge to be available to hear proceedings at an early date. It is open to the union to commence any proceedings which it wishes to commence, and the Commission is not preventing this being done.

Dishonesty Charged by Mr Barnes

AUCKLAND, March 25. “Judge Dalglish and his commission are now prepared to have the Mount Park issues determined by a Supreme Court Judge”, alleged the president of the Auckland Waterside Workers’ Union, Mr Barnes, to-day. Accusing the Water!,'out Commission of “flagrant dishonesty”. Mr Barnes said that despite many assurances that tlie commission was anxious to facilitate a court hearing of the union’s claims, the union had now been advised that the whole issue of whether any remedy was available to any person dissatisfied with the commission’s decision must be determined. "They say later”, he added, “that tlie one question to be decided is whether the Supreme Court has jurisdiction in the matter and that that issue must be submitted to the Supreme Court".
