President Truman told a press conference on Thursday that he would appeal io the UNO Security Council to arrange for an immediate conference between Arabs and jews for a truce, to halt bloodshed in Palestine. He warned that unless emergency action were taken, there would b<> consequences in Palestine of the gravest sort, involving the peace of the world. The president said that the United States had reversed its original stand for partition because partition come not be enforced without American troops.
