Man Admits Crime 24 Years Ago

WELLINGTON, March 24. A plea of guilty to a 24-year-o-d crime was entered by Oswald Fruish. aged 57. a storeman, in the Magistrate’s Court to-day. He was charged with forging the signature of John O’Leary on a Post Office Savings Bank withdrawal receipt on April 10, 1924. The accused, in a written state-

ment, said he had shared , a room with O’Leary in Wellington about 25 years ago. He admitted taking bls bank book and presenting a withdrawal receipt for £4O, ’ which he collected. He returned the book to O’Leary and left Wellington a xew daws later. The accused was committed t.o the Supreme Court for sentence. The Magistrate, Mr A. M. Goulding, remarked that as it was a very ol(l offence, he saw no reason why bail should not be granted.
