KU KLUX KLAN TO BE PROSECUTED

NEW YORK, March 22 The Governor of Georgia (Mr Melvin E. Thompson) has ordered the State Attorney-General to act on charges that the Ku Klux Klan has been assaulting both negroes and whites. Mi' Thompson said: “The Klan’s motives cannot be honourable: If they were, they would move in the open and not wear hoods. Georgia citizens should show the world that the majority of Georgians are loyal American citizens.”

Assurances of support for the Governor came from the mayors of some cities in which the Ku Klux Klan' has intimidated people or demonstrated.
