LICENSING LEGISLATION THIS YEAR
Recommendations of Commission to be Implemented WELLINGTON. Mar 24. Legislation implementing recommendations of the Royal Commission on Licensing, which reported to Lie Government in 1946, is to come befor Parliament this year. The Minister of .Justice, Hon. Mr Mason, stated, in rfply to an enquiry this evening that although the work involved was exensive, and complex, good progress had been made with the preparation of legislation foi submission to Parliament. The Minister added that the aim was to have the legislation ready in good t’me for Parliament to give it the fullest consideration during the coming session. He said that consideration wai being given to the question of wnether it would be feasible and more convenient to divide the subject matter of the legislation into more than one measure, instead of having the whole of the legislation in one bill. “The subject matter is very extensive and in many ways the question is a difficult, one,” he added But a good deal of hard work nas been done on it. The Minister said that the reparation of the legislation is now in active progress.
