A resolution of support for the Queensland strikers was adopted by the national council of the New Zealand Carpenters’ and Joiners’ Union at its meeting, which concluded today. The Council condemned the action of the Queensland State Labour Government in “using force against a peaceful demonstration’’. SEAMEN STOP A DAY AT MELBOURNE MELBOURNE. March 24. Work stopped on 15 inter-State ships when members of the Seamen’s Union decided on a 24-hour strike in

protest against the Queensland AntiPicketing Act. The strike came as a surprise to the ship-owners and had not been ordered by the FederalExecutive of the Union.
