Royal Birth Expected in October
LONDON, March 22. According to “The People,” Princess Elizabeth is expecting to become a mother in October. An official announcement cancelling her public engagements is expected in the next few weeks. No other paper reports this expectation which has not yet been denied “The People” adds: —Princess Elizabeth has given up horse riding and a suite of rooms on the second floor of Clarence House overlooking the St. James’ Park has been chosen lor nurseries. Princess Elizabeth’s engagement list is reported to be filled until tn.o middle of June. No engagements have been accepted after that time. Princess Elizabeth has become ar, honorary member of the Royal Navy Sailing Association. She is also Commodore of the Household Brigade Yacht Club. It is stated mat she and the Duke of Edinburgh willsoon possess a small class sai’ln; boat of their own, and race it themselves. It may be of the Dragon type The Duke of Edinburgh is, of course a most proficient yachtsman. It is officially announced in Capetown that the cost of the Royal visi 1 to South Africa in 1947 by Their Majesties and the two Princesses was £467,015.
