GERMAN TO CONDUCT AT COVENT GARDEN

The London Philharmonic Orchestra. “after close consideration of all factors”, has engaged as conductor Dr Wilhelm Furtwangler for concerts at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and the Albert Hall. A German de-nazification court in December 1946. cleared Dr Furtwangler of allegations that his conduct enhanced Nazi Germany’s prestige.
