ABSENT WITHOUT LEAVE

SYDNEY, June 6 Australian, civilians who fail to produce their identity cards on the demand of the police or the manpower authorities will be liable to immediate detention. The purpose of this new regulation announced by the Prime Minister. Mr Curtin.’ is to enable the apprehension of soldiers who are absent without leave and wearing civilian clothes. No enlisted person in Australia is issued with an identity card, while every civilian is obliged to have one.
