IN EUROPE. (Rec. 6.30) LONDON, June 5. An Air Ministry communique states: “On Saturday afternoon. Spitfires attacked enemy shipping oif the Dutch coast and railway and road transport targets in Brittany. One of our fighters is missing." The Empire Air training scheme iij Canada has trained fifty thousand men as pilots or members of air crews. These are enough to man fifteen thousand combat aircraft. In addition nearly eighty thousand have been trained to do work as ground crews. These facts were made known bv the Canadian High Commissioner when speaking in the Wings for Victory campaign. LONDON, June 6. Spitfires on Saturday continued offensive action against enemy transport, severely damaging a coaster off the Dutch coast, setting fire to two large petrol lorries, and shooting up goods train locomotives, m north-west France. A fire broke out on the coaster. Hits were also scored on an armed trawler accompanying the ship.
