The death occurred at Greymouth last, evening of Mr. Thoma's Jobling, a well-known and highly, respected resident of South Beach. He was aged 75 years. Mr. Jobling was born >n England. He leaves one son and one daughter, both of Waiuta. Guests at Bevington's Hotel include: Mr. and Mrs. S. R. M. Hanna, Mr A. J. Webbe-rley (Wgtn.) Mr. and Mrs. T. Simms (Auckland). Lieut. J. J. Smith (U.S.N.R.). Mr. and Mrs Antliff (Palmerston North).
Mr. D. Knapp, who will leave today for Wellington, was farewelled yesterday by the staff of the Grey Hospital, where he has been employed for the past five years, and was presented with a wallet of notes. The presentation was made by the Secretary (Mr. J. E. A. McKeefry).
The following West Coast men will leave this week for an Army mobilisation camp: D. K. Kerr. Cobden; A V Ross, Ross; R. E. H Miller, Greymouth; T. C. Johnston, Brunnerton- H. R. Olson. Humphries; J. V. Weils, Hokitika; and J. C. Scott, Karangarua.
The funeral of the late Mr. Robert William Blair, of Patara, was held at the Karoro Cemetery yesterday morning. It was largely attended. The service at the residence of Mr. Gordon Blair, Marlborough Street was conducted by Rev. W. R. Martin. Rev. W S Brettell conducted that at the graveside. Several sawmills did not operate yesterday morning as a mark of respect to Mr. Blair.
