Two books of particuar interest, to New Zealanders, published in Cairo are enjoving satisfactory sales in the Middle East. The first, for which there has been a keen demand since it was produced two month ago, . is “We Saw It Happen,” which contains thirty-two reproductions of the work of the war artist, Captain Mclntyre, whose paintings enjoy a wide reputation. The latest addition to war books is “Kiwi. Saga,” written by a New Zealand artillery Sergeant, Martyn Uren, whose autobiographical story covers the activities of men of the N.Z.E.F. in various Middle East cam-1 paigns. At cricket the New Zealand Maadi Camp team scoring 172 for seven wickets, defeated the Gezira Sporting Club, wlio made 125. A feature of the play was. the daring of New Zealand batsmen and smart fielding. The highlight of the match . was a sparkling forty-nine by Tindill. Fraser made thirty-six, and McCoy twenty-five, also batting freely. For New Zealand Massey took three wickets for thirty-two, and Burtt two for thirty-three.
