Auld, piesided at the monthly meeting of the Inangahua Hospital Board. Also present were Messrs J. Discacaiti, J. F and J. J. Coghlan, W. Clayton and F. W. Archer. The Department ot Health wrote reporting on the buildii*cr in Reefton under offer of purchase by the Board. It was decided not to proceed further with the question of purchasing same. The Chairman reported that the architect had now in hand the plans and was taking out estimates for the new hospital at Reefton. He was also pieparing plans for the new nurses’ heme. ' Matron Whisker reported that Si.= «er A. Quinn had commenced dtuy as charge sister at the maternity annexe. The architect had been interviewed concerning the proposed new hospital. It • is suggested that, when building work commenced, the new nurses’ home and staff quarters be started first. This would relieve the present accommodation shortage. Dr. Wicken reported: Admitted 55, discharged 46, deaths 2. in-patients 38, births 8, Xrays 20. It was resolved that tenders b- called for the supply of coal for the hospital. The chairman and town members were deputed to attend to same. Accounts amounting to £BBO 4s 9d were passed for payment.

Total £BBO 4s 9d. For the past week, a special squad of soldiers from an Army camp, has been in Reefton instructing the Home Guard in the use of various weapons. On Thursday night, maneuvers were carried out on the racecourse, when the four companies of the Battalion attended, Guardsmen coming from Blackball, Waiuta, Nelson Creek and Inangahua Valley for the parade. For the benefit of Home Guardsmen a special film will be shown at the local picture theatre on Thursday, June 3. _____
