AUCKLAND, May 31. “I can assure the people of the Dominion that no New Zealand troops have been involved in any such alleged shipping losses, stated the Prime Minister, Mr. Fraser, to-day;, when the Japanese claims of sinking of transports were referred to him. In a recent message from New York; M ; was mentioned that the Tokio Radio had said inaf. Japanese naval and air units claimed to have sunk five Allied transports, including one of 15,000 tons, in the South Pacific between May 1 and Maj' 24. Mr. Fraser said that he had no information of any 15,000-ton transport being lost; and "most definitely could he allay any! public anxiety by stating that no 'Dominion personnel were connected with any of the Japanese claims.
