NAZI LABOUR MUDDLE
VICHY BLAMED.
LONDON, May 28.
“The whole of France is rising in opposition to the Vichy Government’s mismanagement of the exchange of French war prisoners for workers in German factories,” states the Nazicontrolled Paris radio. “incompetent authorities have sent thousands of. aged and sick to Germany while young, rich men have escaped conscription by bribery and string-pull-ing. The whole country is disgusted. Confusion reigns everywhere. Workers on jobs essential for the national life have been spirited to Germany. Every Frenchman knows that the incompetent Vichy authorities landed us in this muddle.” The Paris radio has been cam-
paigning against Vichy particularly on the food situation and these accusations from German-controlled Paris may mean that the Germans find Vichy too slow in carrying out their orders and are preparing the ground for some extremist like Mar.cel Deat.
