LUFTWAFFE THREAT TO BRITISH. LONDON, -May 28. A Wilhelmstrasse spokesman declared that the Luftwaffe had concluded the last phase of preparations necessary to answer the British air offensive. The severest counter-
measures would now begin. (Rec. 6.30) LONDON, May. 29. The Rome radio says: Neutral correspondents in Berlin are of the opinion that the atrocious and just punishment for the British air attacks is imminent. Diplomatic circles believe that recently-invented German infernal machines are about to be used, the effect of which will be simply frightful. This form of punishment will hit the British suddenly when they are off their guard. ' RUGBY, May 30. Light anti-aircraft gunners on the English coast destroyed at least nine fighter bombers sent last week to raid seaside towns, and many more Fockwulfs were so bady damaged that they may not have returned to base.
