WAITAHU NOTES
[Our Own Correspondent]. After a splendid week-end, heavy rain fell on Sunday, and should prove of great benefit to the pastures. There was only a moderate gathering at the Golf Club’s 500 tournament held on Saturday night. The winners of the aggregate were: Ladies’ Miss K. Douglas; gent’s, Mr G. (Stony) Brazil. The winners for the evening were: Ladies’ Miss P. Preen; gent’s, Mr H. Allen. The beautify! sunshine of Sunday brought many players to the local golf course, and visitors are delighted to find the fairways and greens in such good order. The result of the challenge for the Buttons, over 18 holes, between T. Malcolm and E. Patterson, J. Lockington and F. Watts was a win for the. latter, after being 3 down after the first 9. The score was 2 up and 1 to play. Mr R. Bleakeley, Tester for the West Coast Herd Testing Association, is on his first round for the coming season. Miss Joan Blackadder is on a visit to relatives at Waitahu. Mr and Mrs T. E. McMahon and Mr and Mrs Terence McMahon, Cronadun, have the deepest sympathy from their many friends at Waitahu, in their recent sad bereavement.
