TRYING FOR RECORDS

MOTORIST INJURED. (Received September 22, 10 p.m.) DETROIT, September 21. The motorist Jenkins suffered a badly injured arm when the left rear tyre of his machine exploded while he was travelling at a speed of 170 miles an hour, when trying for new records for forty-eight hour run. Jenkins halted the car with difficulty, but he ■ prevented a' smash. Flying rubber from the tyre and a wire spoke from the wheel pierced his arm.
