The single pool system of betting wili operate and the first race is scheduled to to start at 12 noon. N.Z. Horses at Sydney WIN SIX OUT OF NINE RACES(Received September 22, 8.45 p.m.) SYDNEY, September 22. At the Victoria Park Races to-day New Zealand and ex-New Zealand horses won six out of the nine events, including a double by Aladdin, despite a seven pound penalty for his first win. This is an unprecedented run of successes for New Zealanders at the meeting. The Palmist, Bengal Lancer, Golden Treasure, and Highborn were the other winners. Incidentally Highborn was sold to-day to Mr. W. F. Hughes. The price is not stated. Highborn is engaged in the A.J.C. Derby. LATER. Odilion and Red Rosebud were unplaced in the Welter second division. Aieai was unplaced in the Flying Handicap, which was won brilliantly by Journal in race record time. MELBOURNE, September 22. At Williamstown races, Colossical was unplaced in the Trial Hurdles. Sir Ken was unplaced in the Three and Four-Year-Old Handicap. Chequet was unplaced in the Flying Welter Handicap. Extensive improvement, costing forty thousand pounds are being carried out at the Caulfield racecourse, with the object of providing more accommodation for the spring carnival. Minor improvements are being made at the Flemington racecourse. TOLE DUTY. CLUB’S CONCESSION EXTENDED WELLINGTON, September 22. Provision in the Finance Act authorising Racing and Trotting Clubs to return for their own use one fifth of amount of the totalisator duty payable by the Clubs under the Stamp Duties Act has been extended for a further year, commencing on July 31 last. An announcement to this affect was made by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr. Parry, this evening. STRIKE OF STABLE BOYS. (Received September 22, at 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, September 22. The stable boys’ discontent over their pay at famous racing establishments in the Lambourn district has culminated in the first strike of boys working in stables of Captain Bell, trainer for Sir Hugo Cunliffe Owen, and other notable racing pepole. The boys seek a five shillings weekly increase. At present they are receiving £2, and at present there is much extra work due to new yearlings.
