GRANDSTAND CRASH
Hundreds Injured AT COLOGNE MILITARY PARADE. [Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.] COLOGNE, September 16. A grandstand, on whi<«h five thousand, including high-placed diplomats, were watching a military parade, crumpled into the area below without warning. Many of those injured suffered broken legs and arms. Hundreds are reported injured, including the Belgian Consul General, who suffered a broken leg, and other important officials and diplomats. The crash occurred when the spectators after rising in unison to salute a passing detachment, sat simultaneously. The parade was suspended, the troops rescuing the victims. There is an official censorship, and the public are not informed as to the extent of the accident and those injured. PARIS EXHIBITION BUILDING COLLAPSES. PARIS, September 16. The League of Nations building at the Paris Exhibition collapsed, owing to the weakening of foundations after heavy rain. The building was empty at the time.
IRISH FARM WORKERS. 12 BURNT TO DEATH IN SCOTLAND. LONDON, September 16. Twelve Irish potato diggers, believed all men, were burnt to death when fire destroyed a wooden hut on a farm near Glasgow, wherein 38 men and women were sleeping. Three lots of victims were brothers.
