BRIGHTON COAL MINE

Fluming Falls in Sea [Per Press Association], WESTPORT, September 17. A mishap occurred at Brighton Coal Mine this’afternoon, when a casting broke, causing the cable supporting one side of the fluming, crossing from the mainland to the island, to fall, and throwing part of the fluming into the sea. A start is to be made on the repair work immediately, and it is hoped that by the time the three hundred tons of coal on the island is shipped, the fluming will be restored to its former position.
