KU KLUX DENIAL
THAT BLACK REMAINS MEMBER. [Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.] (Received September 15, 10.10 p.m.) ATLANTA (Georgia), September 15. Hiram Evans, the “Imperial Wizard.” of Ku Klux Klan, has denied that Mr Justice Black, who was recently appointed to the Supreme Court, is at present a member of the organisation. Evans also denies the existence' of any life memberships in the Klan. THE PRESIDENT ANNOYED. OVER BLACK AND THE KLAN. (Received September 15, 11.5 p.m.) NEW YORK, September 15. The Washington correspondent of the New York “Times” says: It is known that President Roosevelt is annoyed with Mr Justice Black, who was recently appointed in the . Supreme Court, and who is accused of being a life-member of the Ku Kluk Klan. The President, when the news concerning him and the Ku Klux Kian was first disclosed, “even allowed the thought of asking him to resign, to cross his mind.”
