N.Z. PRIMARY PRODUCTS IN AUSTRALIA. I Per Press Association J. WELLINGTON, September 13. “New Zealand primary products are not sufficiently advertised in Australia," said Mr H. F. Brooks, a Sydney stockbroker, who arrived in Wellington to-day by the Awatea, “There is ample scope for marketing a great deal more New Zealand produce in Australia, blit it is primarily a matter of salesmanship and advertising.” Mr Brooks said many Australians were anxious to purchase New Zealand honey; but often it meant making a round of shops in search of the only one at which it was obtainable. That sort of thing was clearly due Io insufficient publicity. Tariffs, of course, were an obstacle .to increased trade between the Commonwealth and the Dominion, and it was generally felt that greater trade reciprocity would be of greater benefit in business and financial circles. Keen interest was being taken in New Zealand political developments, said Mr Brooks. Mr Nash s Bridget was being awaited with eagerness. Australia herself was nearing a general election, and the recent industrial disturbances had had the effect of impressing electors with the lack of harmony that existed between capital and labour. It was pleasing to note that in the Commonwealth industry was proceeding on sound lines. Outputs had increased and prices were maintained. With the exception of Queensland all thei States had balanced their budgets, but Queensland had budgeted for. a deficit.
