AVIATION
[British Official Wireless], RUGBY, September 11.. If the weather is favourable, it is probable that the Caledonia will leave Foynes to-morrow evening for Newfoundland on another experimental flight preparatory to the establishment of the regular air mail service across the Atlantic. In winning the King’s Cun air race, G. Gardner beat the speed of any previous winning machine by not less than 57 miles an hour. The Secretary of State for Air (Viscount Swinton) presented the cup. and referred to the accident yesterday in which Wing Commanders E. G. Hilton and Percy Sherran were killed. This was the first accident in the race since 1928. The King has asked that his sympathy be expressed to the relatives of the victims.
