NEED OF PEACE British Marshal al Manoeuvres [British Official Wireless]. RUGBY, September 11. Field-Marshal Cir Cyril Deverell, Chief of the Imperial General Staff, will attend the combined manoeuvres of the German Army, Navy and Air Forces. lie will leave for Germany next week, and it will be the first time since the War llial a Chief of Staff has allended tin- German manoeuvres. When General von Blomberg. Com-mandor-in-Cliiel of the German forces, visited England for the Coronation, he invited Field-Marshal Sir Cyril Deverell and oilier British officers. including General Sir Edmund Ironside and Air Marshal Sir Arthur Longmore, to attend lhe manoeuvres, which will begin on September 20th. These oilier officers will accompany Field-Marshal Sir Cyril Deverell on the visit.
NUREMBERG, September 13. As a result of the week-end discussions. between Herr Hitler and his principal advisers, Herr von Ribbentrop may be recalled from London, declares the "Telegraph’s” special correspondent. Herr von Ribbentrop will replace Doctor Meissner as head of Hitler’s Chancellory, who is the righthand man of every German President. It is thought that Dr. Meissner will either be retired or given a new office. Von Hassell, Ambassador at Rome is expected to replace Ribbentrop in London. Count Von Papen, who is finding life uncomfortable at Vienna, will go to Rome. The correspondent says it is expected that General Goering will assume flic Ministership of Economics when Dr. Schacht resigns at the end of the month. Hitler, in an informal talk witn foreign journalists, declared that Europe would never settle down until the colonial question was disposed of. Asked if he would be satisfied with access to raw materials, Hitler replied that Germany would not be satisfied with anytning less than colonies, under her own flag. The British correspondent asked if Germany intended to construct naval bases in any of the colonies acquired. Hiller replied: "Before you can have naval bases, you must have a Navy.” He added tbar Germany never had naval bases in the colonies before the War. Hitler emphasised that Germany needed peace. He was personally planning a great exhibition at Munich in 1945 and Berlin in 1950. The rebuilding of Berlin ,alone, would lake twenty years.
