MITCHELL'S SELECTION. WELLINGTON. September 13. There is no foundation for the report that Hie All Blacks are to play a practice match at. Wanganui on Saturday. Mitchell is lo take part in a game in Auckland! on Saturday. The Springboks breakfast in Wellington to-morrow, and will proceed to Napier by special rail car. SPRINGBOKS v. HAWKE'S BAY. WELLINGTON, September 13. The Springboks will arrive in Wellington by steamer from Lyttelton to-morrow morning at 7 o’clock. They will leave at 8 o’clock ~;r Napier, where they will play Hawke's Bay on Wednesday. SPRINGBOK MANAGER’S DEPARTURE. VAN REENEN DISABLED. WELLINGTON, September 13. Mr Percy W. Day, manager of the South African Football team, accompanied by W. E. Bastard, one of the forwards', flew from Christchurch today, and conferred with the executive of the New Zealand Rugby Union upon matters concerning the tour. Mr Day said that the Springboks had been treated most hospitably in the South Island. They had thoroughly, enjoyed the games played there. The members of the team were all fit and well, with the exception of G. von Rccnen, who had had bones of his hand broken in the match against Otago at Dunedin on Saturday. He would probably take no further part in the tour. Mr Day. who is secretary of the South Africa Turf Club, said he would have to leave New Zealand by the Aorangi on September 21, to join the Thcmistoclcs for Cape Town, in order to return in time for the South African Turf Club’s most important meeting of the year, which was to open at Cape Town on October 30. SOUTH CANTERBURY BEAT WAIRARAPA. MASTERTON, September IL A speedier and more thrustful set of backs, well supplied with the hall throughout, enabled South Canterbury Reps to score a 31 to 1.1 win over Wairarapa on Saturday. It was an even break in the first spell. In the second, the visitors, while not appearing particularly effective, scored almost at will.
