THE ISMAY NECKLACE THEFT LOK DON, February, 25. Police detectives, and the skilled investigators employed by insurance assessors, confess that they arc non-plus-sed by the disappearance of the £20,000 necklace. Mrs Ismay sent the necklace with another worth £25.000, to the famous Bond Street linn on Thursday, for restringing and revaluation. When the re-stringing had been completed, the necklaces were handed to the sales counter, where they were wrapped and passed to the packing office. A senior officer of the firm said that he both wrapped and personally delivered the necklaces to Airs Ismay, owing to their great value. They were also under guard the whole time, lie obtained a receipt from the butler, and the parcel, unopened, was placed in Mrs Ismay’s room, where it was opened in the presence of a ma d less than an hour afterwards. There was then only one necklace The seals of the parcel were intact and there were no signs of tampering.
